Re-welcoming back Global warming issues

In this article that I’ve read, I’ve learned that global warming is at its highest peak and still growing larger. Global warming had been a major issue in our lives but it seems that not many people care about our ozone. As we know it, we even created a treaty that is called the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, but not many people care about it. Not until now. A couple days ago delegates from nearly over 200 nations met at Doha, Qatar where they discuss the future of global warming and what the aftermath is. But they realized that even with global negotiations weren’t enough to stop global warming. A larger, much larger attention was needed. They proclaimed that in order to decrease global warming, we need a global effort to stop it, meaning everyone needs to participate in this “stop global warming” campaign. Numerous people did participate in this effort to stop global warming, and casually decrease the emission of carbon dioxide. Because of this, many countries such as, England, France, U.S, etc decreased the emission of carbon dioxide throughout the world. However, this is not enough as Josep G. Canadell said. As we know it, coal became the main factor of natural gas supply other than fossil fuel, and as the usage of coal increases, the world is likely to lose its ozone in the near future. “If we’re going to run the world on coal, we’re in deep trouble,” said Gregg H. Marland, a scientist at Appalachian State University who has tracked emission for decade. If we do not switch to a cleaner and environmentally usage of fuel, then maybe our ozone won’t last much longer.

I generally think this article intrigued me when I first read it. I’d like to mention that it brought back up the issue of Global Warming which had disappeared on the media for quite some time now. I think this article was well written, however, could use some more proof and evidence on how the research is carried out and where is our ozone at, at the current moment. This can spark future environmentally movements that can stop the emission of carbon dioxide and turn to clean energy such as electricity. Overall, outstanding article.

I thought that Kenny raised a number of very interesting points in his article, such as the rapid disintegration of our ozone, the possible reliance on coal, and the issues surrounding action towards climate change, which I liked. I liked the fact that he reminded us of the recent lack of publicity that global warming has received- it seems as though it has had less of an emphasis in the past year, though it still remains a pressing problem. I also liked how Kenny cited specific details about the article, such as the features of the United Nations Convention as well as certain specific comments by individuals.
Though I feel that Kenny did a great job with this article, I felt as though he could have maybe used different language when describing it, as sometimes, words were used incorrectly which made the summary a bit harder to understand. I also felt that Kenny could have cited some consequences of global warming- as a bit of background- however, I still felt he did a great job.
I learned about the United Nations Convention on Climate Change, which I had not known about before. This is extremely important to know- that people are still taking action and steps towards a cleaner planet.

After reading Kenny’s review I though he did a really good job overall. For one, I liked how he picked a topic that is very popular today and at the same time interesting. A lot of the articles on the blog are to scieincy. I also thought he did a good job in incorporating quotes from some of the delegates. This gave the reader a better sense of how they truly feel. I also like how he gave the who what when where’s of the article. This just gives the reader the basis information to get an idea as to what is going on.
I thought Kenny could have improved on giving some more of the consequences global warming causes. He said mentioned it is a problem but not really why it is a problem. I also think he could have talked more about what the “stop global warming campaign” is and what it does. He only mentioned that it will decrease carbon dioxide emissions but wanted to know how.
One thing that I found interesting about the article is that I didn’t know that they have world conventions about environmental issues. It makes me wonder why we haven’t solvent so many of the problems even though we all have delegates.

Kenny’s review of “Re-welcoming back Global warming issues” was very well written. In his review, he included a lot of information about global warming and its implications. He does a great job explaining the different efforts that people put on helping slow down the process of global warming. He also clearly explained why reversing this trend towards hurting the environment is practically non-reversible. He explains that the results of the past attempts to help the environment and why most were futile and ineffective. He also did well in explaining the relevance of the article and how it was at a conferences this past week. Additionally, Kenny did well on summarizing the article and avoiding clutter and too much detail. His review encompassed the entire article yet he presented the information in a much more concise manner.
Although these were several positive components to his review, there were a few things that I thought were missing from his article review. I think he could have used better grammar and choose better words, as the mistakes took away from the meaning of the reading I also think that he could have included a link to the article, as it would have made it more easily accessible and much more simple to find.
I learned a lot from reading Kenny’s review, and found it very interesting. I was surprised to learn that they had a recent UN conference about this topic, as I have not heard about it in the media.

I thought Kenny did a nice job on this article review. For one, he did a good job determining the problem/ main topic of this article which was global warming. By doing this, I could follow the author’s argument easily. Kenny also did a nice job of integrating quotes. Since it was a fairly general article, the quote helped give it some meat. Finally Kenny did a nice job organizing his paragraphs. This also helped me understand the article, and it helped that he noted the original article was fairly general.
Some things Kenny could improve on would be being less wordy. For science reviews its more important to get straight to the point vs. using rhetoric. I think Kenny could have also mentioned examples proving people don’t care about global warming. That would give more strength to the argument he is making. If they did not have an example in the article he could have mentioned that in his last paragraph.
One thing I learned was that 200 delegates met in Qatar to discuss global warming. This proves it is still a relevant issue.

Article Review 12/9/12
After reading Kenny’s article review on global warming, I can deduce that he did a decent job. I found it interesting that Kenny put a quote in his review, for it directly stated what the author was trying to say, which gave me a better idea of what the main point is. Second to last, I thought it was great that Kenny not only quoted the author, but analyzed the quote as well, which is important, because I was able to understand it better. Last but definitely not least, Kenny talked about how the issue stifled for a while. I think that was a great point, since this issue obviously needs more attention.
Unfortunately, there were two aspects that I think could be worked upon. Primarily, I believe Kenny could go into more detail about the ozone, since I am not very familiar with the topic, and was not able to understand the problem completely. Second and last, Kenny did not explain how certain countries actually decreased emissions of carbon dioxide, which I am eager to know.
Overall, I think the topic is very interesting, especially because it sounds very dangerous and not a lot of people seem to be concerned with it. In my opinion, this should be something that gets more attention both socially, and politically.

I thought Kenny did a very good job in writing this article review. He did a very good job in explaining the article. He included lots of details that made the article that much clearer and flow better. Kenny also did a good job in critiquing the author’s article. He said that the author did not provide evidence for their conclusions about global warming. Finally, I thought Kenny did a good job in including a quote because it made the review that much better and relatable. It was nice seeing something that was actually stated in the article, which also made it clear that the article itself was fairly general.
I thought Kenny could have improved his article by first reading it over before he posted it. He made some grammatical errors which could have easily could have been fixed had he proofread it. He would have made this review more cohesive and easier to understand. I also was confused as to why Kenny had only two paragraphs instead of three. He did not include the part about how this affects the world because this article basically does that for him. But I still think he should have included a paragraph, even if it was a small one, about the effects of global warming or how he thinks it will impact the world.
One interesting thing I learned was that there was a UN treaty that was supposed to help prevent global warming, but no one paid attention to it mainly because no one knew it existed. This was kind of shocking to me and brought to my attention that the UN did not attempt to make this well known information.

Article comment:
I read Kenny’s review of the article “Re-welcoming back global warming issues.” I really liked how Kenny introduced the issue with the facts that everyone had heard to jog our memories of the initial global warming campaign. I also liked how he used a quote from a credible source to introduce the new problem, this registers it as a legitimate issue, not just a theoretical one. Finally, I was a fan of how he tied his opinion into the conclusion relating it back to article several times.
I felt that he could have done a slightly better job summarizing the article to allow us to fully understand this new problem.
One thing I learned is that we are far from the end of the global warming crisis, in fact we haven’t even been moving forward in the past years
