Current Events-Nicole Carpenter

Europe has recently taken little effort to reduce the release of power related carbons into the atmosphere, but by establishing an Emissions Preformance Standards (EPS) in Europe, it would do so in the least costly way. Currently, Europe has not outlawed any systems, like coal fueling of factories, which are very high in pollution. However, enforcing the EPS would ensure Europe to only invest in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and capturing the CO2. If the rules of the ETS were enforced, by 2020, Europe will have cut their green house gas emissions by two-thirds. It would be more cost-effective than ensuring this act later, and the government could make money from selling green gas emission permits rather than giving away. The EPS has great potential to greatly reduce the amount of green house gas emittents in Europe.

1. It was good how she had specific facts to backup her piont an example being that green house adminstions being able to be cut by two thirds by 2020.

2. It was good how she gave backround on the problems occuring in europe at this time.

3. It was good how she Showed the benfits that the government could aqurie from being helping prevent green house gases.

1. One thing she could have done better would be to exspress the dangers that could arise if this problem isn't confronted.

2. Another thing that she could of done would have been to show how this could effect the future to come.

1. One thing that helped me understand was how the government could help the environment and still manage to make a profit.

3 she had strong facts to defend her argument on Europeans to cut back pollutants
The background information on Europe was helpfu in better understanding the environmental probelsm occurring
She showed the benfits Europe would which therefore shows her point of view on the issue.
2 she could have been more informative on what would occur if the problems were ignored.
Also she could have put up statistics on how polltuion will effect the world at a later date
1 i was unaware that before this article that it can be financially helpful to switch to more environment frienlly ways of ocnducting business

This was a very good article summary. Nicole wrote about a very interesting article. I never knew about anything that was happening in Europe. She was good at stating the facts that were important to the article, instead of "fluffing it up with nonessential words. Finally, she was very good at stating what could be done in the future if Europe was able to enforce the ETS.

I thought that something Nicole didn't do so well was that her first sentence was too long. It made it difficult to understand all the information that she state in that sentence. Also, it was a little hard to understand in general. Although all the facts were there and it was interesting, I was getting a little confused.

One thing that I learned from reading this summary and the article was that If the rules of the ETS are enforced, by 2020, 2/3 of the green house gas emissions will be cut.
