Current Events 2

http://dotearth.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/12/will-next-ice-age-be-permanent/?ref=science

            Thomas J. Crowley and William T. Hyde, the authors of Nature, believe that an ice age may occur in the future. They wrote Nature to inform many nations about the ice sheets at both poles, which could ultimately cause an ice age if the human population doesn’t react. Both scientists used climate models and other techniques to assess the chances that the world could witness a climate transition from a warmer climate to a polar ice one, with expanding ice sheets at both poles. Dr. Crowley believes that this climate change is a function of human’s actions, whether we chose to act or not is up to us.

3 Things well done:
1. Summary is concise and to the point - no superfluous language.
2. Summary is written on interesting topic.
3. Summary uses approachable language, making it very easy to understand.
2 Things which could have been improved:
1. Summary was vague as to what the causation between the potential for a new, permanent, ice age and human actions was.
2. Summary did not list any actions Dr. Crowley suggested could be taken.
1 Impressing Fact:
1. I understood that climate change was cyclical, but I did not realize it was possible for them to be gyrating - with the potential for settling at one particular climate.

1) Gets right to the point.
2) Easy to understand
3) Good topic

* 2 suggestions on how the review could have been made even better;
1) You can expand your information a little more.
2) Explain how we can change.

2 Suggestions
1. Could have given a better backround on the scientists.
2. Was a little vage on a large subject.

1 thing I liked
1. It helped me to realize how dangerouse the climate change really.

1. Easy to understand.
2. Topic is very interesting.
3. Has solid facts

1. Could have had more details.
2. You could have gone more in to detail on what steps scientists are going to take to precent this.

1. One thing that i learned that was very interesting was that the ice sheets at both poles could cause an ice age somewhere in the future.

This write up was done well because it was on an interesting topic, all the details to explain why the ice age was occurring were given, and it was easily understood.
In this write-up, improvements could have been made, like explaining what human actions would help stop the ice age and what the climate models they used were.
In this article I learned that there is a grave possibility of an ice age occurring, which is contradictory of the view of global warming.

1. The summary gave all the right details.
2. It was easy to comprehend.
3. Explained well considering the topic.

1. The actions that could be made to help stop this could have been listed.
2. A background would have been helpful.

1. The article showed that with the right actions we have a chance to change the world.

This summary is very to the point, it describes the most important aspects of the article, and relates to the readers.
This could be improved by stating when exactly this ice age may occur, like will it be in 100 years or more? Also, what can the people of the world do to help with this future disaster?
From reading the article and this summary I have learned that there is a lot of ice at both poles and if we do not act now there could be a future ice age.

3 aspects well presented:
* Easy to understand the topic
* Well organized
* Direct to the point

2 suggestions:
* you could talk more about how can humans react to don't let the ice age happen
* you could explain a little bit more about the transformation to the ice age

Impress fact:
*If humans do not react quickly we can possible have in the future an ice age.

1. It was easy to understand
2. The topic is very interesting
3. Christie used solid facts in her summary

1. The summary could have had more details.
2. It would've been interesting to better understand the steps scientists are taking to prevent this.

1. It was very interesting to learn that ice sheets at the north and south poles could cause an ice age in the future.
